Hi-Res Apple TV Artwork Shortcut
This shortcut for Apple Shortcuts (formerly Workflow) allows you to take any URL from the Apple TV app and retrieve the highest resolution artwork available. Whether you’re setting up automations or simply want the best quality TV and Movie art, this shortcut has you covered.
Supports:
- TV Shows
- Films / Movies
The shortcut defaults to the new 2:3 portrait style seen in iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe (typically 2000x3000px) but you can customise it to return the older 16:9 landscape artwork seen in iOS 18 and earlier (typically 3840x2160px).
Example Artwork:
- The White Lotus - TV Show (Portrait / Landscape)
- Nobody 2 - Movie (Portrait / Landscape)
- Severance - Apple TV+ Show (Portrait / Landscape)
- The Rings of Power - Amazon Prime Show (Portrait / Landscape)
This will fetch the artwork for any show / movie that is available within the Apple TV app be that via the store or because it is available on Apple TV+. This also extends to artwork from services that integrate with the Apple TV app on iOS (for example, artwork from BBC shows available via iPlayer through the Apple TV app).
Included in your purchase are additional shortcuts which work with the share sheet for one-click downloading of artwork to the Photos app or to iCloud Drive. There is also a user guide explaining more advanced options such as changing aspect ratio and return of metadata.
This shortcut is provided by Ben Dodson, independent developer of tools such as the Apple Music Artwork Finder and Apple TV Shows & Movies Artwork Finder that have been providing high resolution imagery since 2013 ✨
⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️
This is a shortcut for the "Shortcuts" app available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. It is not an app. If you do not have an Apple device then this will not work for you. If you have never used the Shortcuts app before, I'd strongly suggest you take a look at Apple's User Guide to see if this is something you would use before purchasing. I've also put together a guide to the shortcut which you may find useful!
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this a paid shortcut?
In order to access the highest quality artwork, a server component is necessary within the shortcut allowing me to fetch the artwork and make any fixes or improvements without issuing a new update. This online component costs me money to run, a cost that increases if the shortcut is used for heavy automations. I've tried to keep the cost as reasonable as possible and avoid any subscription pricing, etc.
How do I get artwork for each season of a TV show?
The Apple TV app does not provide artwork for each season but instead a single poster for an entire show.
How can I customise the language?
The shortcut will fetch artwork in the default language Apple uses for the country in which you fetched it (i.e. using a German link will result in German artwork even though they may also provide English covers).
